I came in once to look around and chatted with a very friendly employee. She encouraged me to take a class and join a local bonsai club. Both were excellent suggestions and I really loved the class at Kimura with Michael Roberts. I learned a ton and he was very patient. Unrelated to the business but the students were also super kind and helpful making me feel like I was part of a community.

Highly overpriced for a low quality material you are getting. If you are a beginner or don't know anything about bonsai then this place might be okay for you. But if you are very experienced, you will see that this nursery along with the other ones are just there to rip you off. Best to look elsewhere. I guarantee you that you will get a higher quality bonsai than the nurseries out in SoCal. Look for your local bonsai club in swap meet or contact them directly. Their bonsai will have more quality and have the right price compared to these nurseries around. If you wanna burn your money for some low quality, or at best, decent quality material then go ahead and spend them in nurseries. If not and you want to be smart about it and get more out of your hard earned money then talk to club members. Always look for materials that have "bonsai quality". Not all of them are good enough to be bonsai but they make them anyway coz they want to get your money. Don't fall for that trap. There's a reason why you rarely see bonsai enthusiasts or artists buying materials from nurseries. They are overpriced and not worth it. Just stating facts. Spend your money wisely.

Bonsai coaching session / 5 🌟! Wonderful place and amazing coaching from Bob, a long time bonsai expert. I have a budding bonsai interest and was able to take their coaching class recently. You bring a plant or two with you and Bob takes turns helping each student with their bonsai. It is a 3 hour class and I learned more in those 3 hours then all the videos and books I read prior to my visit. My plant was from a commercial nursery and Bob explained how those are not really designed and brought to market for long term success. But he was confident that he could help me get it healthy and eventually turn it into a nice, aesthic bonsai. Their nursery is specialized in bonsai and there are so many fascinating trees to look at. The pics I took are a tiny example of what they have available.

Best bonsai store I’ve found in LA so far. Customer service is def A+. One of the few places that actually have a wide variety of pre-bonsai/bonsai ready material at non-ripoff prices (unlike most other stores I’ve been to).
